AL East: Rotation reinforcements coming for New York

New York’s league-best rotation (2.74 ERA, 1st in MLB) will soon be gaining reinforcements, as Carlos Rodón and Gerrit Cole are both progressing on their rehab assignments. Rodón most recently threw 76 pitches in 5.1 scoreless innings for AA-Somerset on April 30 in his second rehab start. The left-hander is expected to make a rehab start for AAA-Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 5, and the team will evaluate his status from there, with a return to the majors possible. Cole, meanwhile, made his third rehab start on April 29, throwing 5.2 scoreless innings for AA-Somerset. The right-hander’s fourth rehab start is scheduled for May 5 with A-Hudson Valley, but no announcements have been made about next steps after that...
