AL East: How does Roden fit in Jays' lineup puzzle?

After being singled out by GM Ross Atkins as a prospect to watch during spring training, Alan Roden took the opportunity and ran with it, making the Blue Jays Opening Day roster on the heels of a tremendous spring performance (.407/.541/.704 in 37 PA). Despite making the Opening Day roster, Roden’s role with Toronto remains uncertain.

While Roden has started getting reps in center field and may garner an occasional start there, the inclusion of both Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw on Toronto’s Opening Day roster seemingly indicates that Toronto will mainly utilize a Lukes/Straw platoon until Daulton Varsho is cleared to play the field. At this point, Lukes would be the most likely player to be sent to AAA.
