Jonny DeLuca, who missed the first five weeks of the season after suffering a broken hand during spring training, did not appear to have a clear role with Tampa Bay after being activated from the IL on May 3. With Jose Siri suspended and Josh Lowe finishing up a rehab assignment, DeLuca was able to garner a start in his debut. Even after Siri returned from suspension and Lowe returned from injury, though, DeLuca has remained an everyday fixture in the Rays’ outfield. Since Lowe’s activation, Tampa Bay has essentially platooned the left-handed Lowe (in right field) and the right-handed Siri (in center field), with DeLuca starting either in center field or right field depending on whether Lowe or Siri is in the...
