AL East: Bregman & Devers uncertainty continues to brew

As the spring progresses, Boston’s third base situation continues to create uncertainty for the team’s Opening Day roster. Following the signing of Alex Bregman, incumbent third baseman Rafael Devers shut down the idea of moving off third base to designated hitter, stating to reporters, “Third base is my position.” This led to speculation that Bregman could move to second base to accommodate Devers.

Thus far in spring, Bregman has started exclusively at third base while Devers, who has been dealing with lingering shoulder soreness, has yet to appear in a Grapefruit League game. The team is hopeful that Devers will be able to make his spring debut within the next week. The expectation is that the debut will come at...
