For the time being, Boston’s lack of a first base acquisition will benefit the playing time of Abraham Toro. However, Toro’s season line now stands at a meager .260/.313/.399 in 246 PA, which could prompt the team to explore internal options at first base.

Kristian Campbell’s recent surge in Triple-A could increase his chances of getting another shot at the major league level.
