AL Central: Is the future Genao in Cleveland?

Cleveland Guardians

Just two weeks ago in this space, we speculated that Bryan Rocchio's struggles at the plate might lead to Angel Genao taking away some playing time at shortstop, and sure enough, over the last 12 Cleveland games, Genao has been at SS for three of them (including back-to-back games), with his start on August 15th marking the first time since July 5th that Rocchio wasn't in the lineup.

Rocchio hasn't given manager Stephen Vogt much of a choice with his performance, as he's now hit .213 with a .582 OPS over 279 PA since June 1st, and for the month of August, he's been even worse, batting .159 with a .441 OPS over 76 PA.

Meanwhile, Genao might not be breaking out, but he's certainly offering a more valuable offensive...

Almost!
