NEWS: PIT places 1B Ji-Man Choi (Achilles) on the 10-day IL and recalls INF Tucupita Marcano from Class AAA Indianapolis.

IMPACT: Low

BHQ SPIN: Choi opened 2023 with a woeful .125/.125/.344 slash line in 32 PA and now will spend an undetermined amount of time on the IL. The injury opens the door for Carlos Santana to see more time at 1B. Santana has a .250/.333./.479 slash line going in 54 PA. We’re taking 10% PT away from Choi and giving half to Santana and the other to Andrew McCutchen, who will see some extra AB at DH as  the team shuffles its lineup. Marcano has some PT already projected and we only see him as an INF depth piece at this time.
