Montas heads (back) to the Big Apple

NATIONAL LEAGUE

New York Mets
NEWS: The Mets signed righthander Frankie Montas to a two-year, $34 million contract with an option to opt out after the 2025 season.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: Montas missed virtually the entire 2023 season after shoulder surgery, and his 2024 return was a mixed bag. Overall, he had a 4.84 ERA, but his xERA was a half run better, and after July 1, his xERA was a 4.07. Of note, he appeared to pitch well during the last six weeks of the season. Over his last eight starts, he had two PQS-5 and one PQS-4 start and only one start that would be considered a disaster. Montas figures to slot in as the Mets’ #3 or #4 starter depending on what other moves the team makes this offseason.
