NEWS: The Mets placed Tylor Megill on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder strain.

BHQ SPIN:  Originally Megill thought he’d only miss a couple of starts, but the Mets are now saying he will be shut down from throwing for about a week, suggesting he will be out for a longer time. For now we’ve reduced his innings projection to 6.5%, and that may be optimistic, especially if Kodai Senga is able to return in May and reclaim the spot in the rotation that was occupied by Megill. Megill’s spot on the active roster went to reliever Reed Garrett. The 31-year old Garrett has a 6.15 xERA over 46 MLB innings; he will not be getting Megill’s spot in the rotation.
