NEWS: The Rangers activated RHP Tyler Mahle from the IL and optioned LHP Walter Pennington to AAA-Round Rock.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: As expected. Mahle got the start on Tuesday (8/6) vs. HOU, going 5 innings and allowing just one run. We’ve been inching his PT up anticipating this return, so only a minor uptick was needed here (with a corresponding minor cut for Pennington). Given that this is Mahle’s first MLB work in more than a year post-Tommy John surgery, keep expectations for IP (and, likely, results) in check.
