BABS 2025 Positional Analysis: Pitchers

BABS tells us that players are more alike than they are different, which is no more apparent than with pitchers and their underlying skills. As much as we work to rank them for our cheat sheets, many of the players within the asset groups are truly interchangeable.

As such, asset groups often contain many arms, providing frequent opportunities to leverage the market. Case in point: In 2024, the highly skilled (ER,K+) group went eight deep, including the two Cy Young award winners. During draft season, however, four players from that group had a market price higher than Tarik Skubal’s, while Chris Sale was discounted by another five rounds.
