When looking for starting pitchers worth targeting in an abbreviated season, one approach is to speculate on those that showed flashes of elite skills in 2019 that were washed away by poor skills at other points in the season.

Let's use that approach by identifying the largest monthly BPV variances by starting pitchers in 2019. We'll start with the American League; next week we'll turn to the National League.
