F/F SPOTLIGHT: Marcus Stroman

Introduction

Marcus Stroman has a couple of trademarked personal slogans relating to his height (or lack of it) and his attitude towards his stature. He sells T-shirts and other paraphernalia with the slogan, “Height Don’t Measure Heart,” and at a listed 5’ 8”, he’s in a position to prove it.

And he has. At his best, Stroman has been an acceptable innings-eater and moderate fantasy asset. At worst, he has been unrosterable. His 2019 is off to a good start, but his lack of reliable swing-and-miss stuff—coupled with some ominous trends in batted-ball profiles—make Stroman appear headed for a future that, despite his relative youth, will lean worse rather than better.
