The Arizona Fall League begins in early October and this year's rosters are packed with excellent prospects who have a chance to become outstanding big leaguers. Similar to past years, the pitching ranks are quite thin, but there are several position players worthy of acclaim. Rob Gordon and Jeremy Deloney analyzed the rosters and provided their assessments on some of the top pitchers, players, and sleepers.

Every year, multiple media outlets spend time and energy compiling a list of players they deem to be the next impact players in the big leagues. Here at BaseballHQ.com, our 2012 Top 100 Prospects list was published on January 20. And every year, players rise and fall from these rankings as the season goes on.

With the 2012 minor league season winding down, we stop to take a look back at our Pre-Season Top 100 Prospect list. Over the next two weeks will highlight prospect from the Top 100 who either exceeded expectations or fell far short. In the process of doing so, we will examine what fueled these breakouts or caused a player to struggle. This week we start with players who exceeded expectations and next week we look at those who struggled.

As we enter the homestretch of the 2012 season, teams will be able to expand their rosters to 40 players beginning next week. Some September call-ups will have little fantasy or real world impact, but there are some top notch prospects that could help clubs as they make a push towards the playoffs or start to rebuild for 2013 and beyond. Savvy fantasy owners will need to keep an eye on these call-ups, many of whom offer both risk and reward. This week we look at possible impact call-ups in the NL.
