As the 2023 minor league season enters its final month of play, we now have a solid second half sample that we can use to see how players’ seasons have trended. We tend to think of a player’s minor league season in terms of a single stat line. This can sometimes mask significant trends in a player’s season, especially when extreme first halves dominate the narrative.

But prospects are constantly evolving, and development is not always linear. Keeping abreast of any dramatic changes not only from season to season, but over the course of a single season can provide great insight into a player’s development.
