This week we continue our annual review of the top prospects in baseball by position. Between now and Opening Day, we'll examine one position a week by looking at both those rookies ready to contribute in the big leagues now, as well as run-down of the top 15 long-term prospects at each position.
This week we focus on second base. Historically second base tends to be a fairly shallow—both in the majors and even more so in the minors. Organizations tend to fill the second base needs with failed shortstops or players who have moved from other positions. That trend has changed in the past decade as clubs increasingly see value in drafting and developing players with more experience and expertise at the position....
