MINORS: 2013 top first base prospects

We continue our annual review of the top prospects in baseball by position. Last week, Rob Gordon looked at catchers. This week, we focus on the first basemen. This position continues to be one of significant disappointment.  In 2012, there were only four 1B in the HQ100. This year is even worse.

Only Jonathan Singleton (HOU, #21) appears in the 2013 HQ100. Dan Vogelbach (CHC) and C.J. Cron (LAA) received some consideration, but the position as a whole lacks depth and upside potential. No 1B prospect appears to be in line for significant playing time in 2013 and very few may make Opening Day rosters out of spring training.
