2012 First Year Player Draft in Review

With the 2012 draft in the books, we take a look back. Not surprisingly, there were several high profile prospects, particularly projectable high school pitchers, who slipped due to concerns about signability. Unlike in previous drafts, many of those players will be very difficult to sign.  With the new, firmer slotting bonuses established in the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), teams will not be able to throw millions of dollars at late round pick in an attempt to lure them away from a college scholarship. A handful of these players will undoubtedly get signed as teams come up with creative ways to work around the CBA, but many could end up on college campuses this...
