For the time being, it appears that Gavin Floyd (RHP, ATL) will pitch middle relief as there is no opening in the starting rotation. The surprisingly fantastic April from Aaron Harang (RHP, ATL), who was a late spring signing, has created an unexpected roadblock for Floyd. Barring injury, none of Julio Teheran (RHP, ATL), Mike Minor (LHP, ATL), Ervin Santana (RHP, ATL) or Alex Wood (LHP, ATL) deserve to be ousted, so Floyd may have to bide his time in the bullpen until something opens up.

Harang’s skills have actually been quite strong so far this season (3.61 xERA, 3.2 Ctl, 9.1 Dom, 11% SwK% and 98 BPV in 42 IP). The 36-year-old has three PQS-4 and three PQS-5 outings in seven starts. However, his outing on April 30...
