Scherzer re-signs with Toronto

NEWS: The Toronto Blue Jays signed LHP Max Scherzer to a 1 year, $3 million contract with incentives.

BHQ SPIN: The Blue Jays welcomed Scherzer back for his age 41 season. Although 2026 was the worst of Mad Max’s career (4.60 BHQ xERA) he was showing signs of decline (22 K% since 2024, BHQ xERA greater than 4.00 since 2023). Toronto brought him back, so they weren't totally put off by the experience, but they are a team searching for some pitching depth now that RHP Shane Bieber will most likely miss the beginning of the season with arm fatigue. In theory, Scherzer joins a group including RHP José Berríos and RHP Cody Ponce who are fighting for the last two spots in the Jays’...
