NEWS: Minnesota finalized a one-year, $5.25 million contract with 1B Carlos Santana.

BHQ SPIN: Santana gives the Twins a much-needed bat in the lineup. Santana’s 23 HR in 2023 would have been second on the Twins last year. He split time with PIT and MIL in 2023, putting up a .240/.318/.429 line in 550 AB. The addition of Santana (+20% PT) also solidified 1B as Minnesota was looking at a platoon involving Alex Kirilloff. As a switch-hitter, Santana will give Mgr Rocco Baldelli some flexibility with his lineup and allow Kirilloff to get most of his AB at DH.
