NEWS: The Twins placed OF Byron Buxton on the IL with a right hip impingement and recalled OF Gabriel Gonzalez from Triple-A.

BHQ SPIN: We anticipated this move, especially upon Walker Jenkins’ recall on Friday and Buxton remaining out of the lineup Friday and Saturday. Buxton hasn’t been right since early July, when he first went on the IL with a strained right hip; this is his third IL trip overall. He’s not homered since June 22 and his second half has been a washout: .191/.291/.235 slash line in just 79 PA with batted-ball metrics all tanking during that time. With whispers of offseason surgery, we’ve cut his PT% to 35%, and that may be generous as the Twins continue to lose ground...
