Fried, Albies injuries open up spots in Atlanta

NEWS: Atlanta placed LHP Max Fried on the 15-day IL and recalled lefty Dylan Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: The Braves are describing the injury as neuritis and say the injury arose while Fried was getting ready to pitch in the All-Star game. While he went ahead and pitched in the game when he returned to Atlanta, the Braves sent him for an MRI. The MRI didn’t indicate anything and Atlanta is downplaying the injury, but we’ve cut Fried’s projected playing time to 8.5%. It’s not clear whether Atlanta plans to put Dodd in the rotation. In 2023, he made seven starts and was knocked around to the tune of a 6.91 xERA. He hasn’t fared much better at Gwinnett this year: 4.99 ERA over...
