Doval takes over as closer for Giants

NEWS: San Francisco announced that Camilo Doval will replace Ryan Walker as the team’s closer.

BHQ SPIN: Last year, the opposite happened, as Doval opened the 2024 campaign as the Giants closer before being replaced by Walker in August after struggling to a 4.70 ERA (44 IP) and getting optioned to the minors. Walker’s electric 2024, in which he pitched to a 1.91 ERA (80 IP) with a 32.1% strikeout rate, propelled him to open 2025 as the club’s preferred ninth inning option.
