DAILY MATCHUPS: Matz looks to continue resurgence vs. Cubs

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: It's a typical Sunday with all 30 teams in action. No doubleheaders today; the Jays host the Angels in the early Peacock game, and the Orioles and Yankees match up in the ESPN night game.

 

Notable Starts: 

When Steven Matz was yanked from the St. Louis rotation back in May, it was for just cause: over 10 starts, he had 5 PQS-Disasters and no PQS-Dominant outings. Upon being reinserted in the rotation this month, it's clear things are different, as Matz has recorded three PQS-Dominant outings in four July starts. with 27% K%/6% BB and a 47% GB% this month, Matz seems to have recaptured his vintage form. He faces the Cubs in St. Louis today.
