Civale trade opens up spot for Baz

NEWS: The Rays traded RHP Aaron Civale to the Brewers July 3 for infield prospect Gregory Barrios.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: The departure of Civale, who was acquired at last year’s trade deadline for 1B Kyle Manzardo, opens a spot in the Tampa rotation for RHP Shane Baz. After some initial struggles on his rehabilitation assignment, Baz has been rounding into form at AAA-Durham with a 1.57 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across his last five starts (35/10 K/BB in 23 IP). Tampa also expects to have LHP Jeffrey Springs back by the end of July. Springs is recovering from Tommy John surgery in April 2023 and has been gradually extending his workload in his outings for AAA-Durham, most recently pitching four scoreless innings...
