Messick to provide fireworks on Independence Day slate

Today's Overview/Schedule/Weather: Today's slate abounds with top-flight pitching, as the model has nearly half of the slate with “green” starts, along with strong strikeout totals, as 11 pitchers have strikeout scores of 1.0 or higher. The Pirates and Nationals start off the festivities at 11:05 ET, leading off a short four-game matinee slate, followed by a mammoth 11-game evening schedule.
