A nine-player deal completed August 25 confirmed that LA is willing to spend at all costs under new ownership to become a perennial contender, while BOS unloaded $270M in salary in the midst of a very disappointing 2012 campaign. How does this blockbuster trade affect PT in BOS and LA? Also, lots of pitcher shuffling between DL, bullpen, and starting rotation...

While Denard Span (OF, MIN), David Ortiz (DH, BOS) and Jose Bautista (OF, TOR) returned to action after lengthy absences, Dexter Fowler is among those sidelined by injury. Jon Rauch (RHP, NYM), among the few bright lights in a largely dim bullpen, might be emerging as his team's preferred saves option. Rauch has recorded NYM's two most recent saves, August 12 and 16.
