GM's OFFICE: Lessons from the Trade Deadline

There's an argument to be made that the trading process is the one aspect of fantasy baseball that most closely resembles its MLB counterpart.
We play fantasy because of our love of baseball, and the opportunity it presents to put together and manage our own club. But we're kidding ourselves if we think a traditional roto format really emulates an MLB GM's job. There's just so many differences, which we're all aware of. But by way of a reminder:
- A salary cap that accompanies many of our contests—of either a daily or season-long auction ilk. No such thing exists in MLB.
- The loose positioning rules and a disregard for defense—one can grab Nolan Arenado (to play 3B) AND Maikel Franco (COR) AND Kris Bryant...
