Perspective. 

I spent last weekend on a little road trip. What started out as a jaunt to the Futures Game during All-Star Week in San Diego blossomed into a three-setting Southern California baseball trip. All were enjoyable outings, but partway through I was struck by how the different settings affected my observations on player development. Especially as one who logs plenty of minor league games scouring for talent that will one day impact our fantasy teams, this lesson of how important context is became front and center on this trip.

So I’m going to walk my way through the weekend in chronological order with an acute sense of perspective. In other words, how each game’s place on the developmental ladder might impact player...
