Who doesn’t appreciate the majestic flight of a towering home run pulled deep into the upper deck? Turn on a sports highlight show during virtually any summer night and we are bound to come across an analyst lauding the slugger who mashed it. But what do we hear when watching a game and the hitter drives a pitch on the outer part of the plate into the opposite field—“the other way”—for a hit? The color analyst inevitably tells us, “That’s a nice piece of hitting…”
