First Pitch Arizona and COVID-19

For 25 years, one of the goals of our First Pitch events has been to bring many fantasy baseball-loving folks from around the country (and occasionally, the world) into one place each year to learn, interact, draft, watch games and just BE together. And given the feedback we receive each year after the conference, the community that happens over the weekend is a major drawing point.

Obviously COVID-19 put a halt to that, as we had to postpone First Pitch Arizona in fall 2020, and take First Pitch Florida online-only in spring 2021. Despite the pesky Delta variant that threatened our return to live events, we had a very successful (and safe) First Pitch Arizona event in October 2021, and we're confident the same approach will yield similar results for First Pitch Arizona 2022.

As hosts, we—BaseballHQ staff and Gannett more broadly—feel it's our job to do everything in our power to provide a safe environment for all of our attendees. It's a privilege to be able to gather together, but there are a few adjustments we all need to make to responsibly hold this event under these conditions. With everyone's health and safety in mind, we have put these protocols in place to assure the best possible experience for all of our attendees for the weekend.

Prior to the event*, all attendees of First Pitch Arizona 2022 must:

  • Sign a waiver of liability. A copy of the waiver can be downloaded here
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, OR provide a negative COVID-19 test when checking in at the registration table on-site.

*These will be submitted electronically, with precise instructions to follow soon. Before registering for FPAZ22, please be sure to read the waiver document linked above.

As far as masking, we will not have a requirement for mask-wearing, but we will welcome (and applaud!) anyone who chooses to wear a mask at the event.

We've proven that we can safely operate these events amid this ongoing pandemic, and full compliance with these protocols is the key to that success. Our intent is both to ensure everyone's safety from the virus, as well as to enhance everyone's comfort level throughout the weekend. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
