Leading indicators are valuable for their relative stability in the face of luck and context-dependent variation in outcomes. Sustained changes in indictors suggest changes in performance will follow, because of the correlation between these indicators and performance. However, it stands to reason that the same relative change in performance could have a different effect on performance, depending on the starting performance level.
