Athletics | Stephen Piscotty activated from IL
Oakland Athletics OF Stephen Piscotty (ankle) was activated from the injured list on Thursday, Sept. 26.  Source: AthleticsPR

BHQ take: Piscotty may get a few AB to see if he's ready for playoff duty. OAK also apparently dodged a bullet with regular CF Mark Canha, as a groin strain did not appear serious. Relatedly, CF Skye Bolt was also activated, and he may get a few AB over the weekend to rest Canha. As for Piscotty, he was hitting well again before his latest injury, a high ankle sprain, posting a .898 OPS over 56 AB in August. Other than a poor June, Piscotty has hit near his career norms, but injuries have obviously cut into his value. Interestingly, Piscotty has posted xPX values above average in each of his five MLB seasons; he could run into one for you this weekend.  —Rod Truesdell

Marlins | Foot injury for Lewis Brinson
Miami Marlins OF Lewis Brinson exited early against the Philadelphia Phillies with a right foot contusion Friday, Sept. 27.  Source: The Athletic - Andre Fernandez

BHQ take: Brinson’s probably not on too many teams, but just in case, here’s a heads up. It’s not clear how serious the injury is, but at this time of the year, virtually any injury is a season ender for a team that’s just playing out the string.  —Phil Hertz

Phillies | Scott Kingery departs early
Philadelphia Phillies 2B Scott Kingery (undisclosed) exited early against the Miami Marlins with an undisclosed injury Friday, Sept. 27.  Source: The Athletic - Matt Gelb

BHQ take: Kingery owners in tight races should take note. It’s not clear how serious the injury is, but at this time of the year, virtually any injury is a season ender for a team that’s just playing out the string.  —Phil Hertz
