Between the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Gonzalez had surgery on his left shoulder to repair a torn labrum. While this surgery is not considered routine, the recovery for position players is much more positive than pitchers. In fact, the success of Hanley Ramirez, Justin Upton and others after the surgery led the Red Sox and others to believe Gonzalez would not see a drop in production. That was true last season, but what about 2012?
