DR HQ: Soler, Duda, Sabathia go down

Jorge Soler (OF, CHC)
Injury: Strained left oblique muscle
DL date: Aug 24
Estimated DL time: The typical recovery time is 25-31 days. If Soler’s return falls in that time frame, he won’t be back until the middle of September.

Desmond Jennings (OF, TAM)
Injury: Bruised left knee
DL date: Aug 26
Estimated DL time: The Rays need healthy bodies in the outfield and can afford to leave him on the bench for a week or so. Rosters expand in less than a week, but he should be back once his 15 days are up.

Lucas Duda (1B, NYM)
Injury: Herniated disc – thoracic part of his back
DL date: Aug 22
Estimated DL time: Though the Mets indicate he’ll be back very close to his activation date, back injuries in this region can take a tad longer to recover. He should return before the middle of September.

CC Sabathia (LHP, NYY)
Injury: Inflammation right knee
DL date: Aug 24
Estimated DL time: He has very little—if any—meniscus in his right knee. That means he has had and will continue to have a bone-on-bone situation. While the Yankees indicate he’ll be back in 15 days, he won’t be 100% and it remains to be seen how effective he will be pitching in September.

J.R. Graham (RHP, MIN)
Injury: Inflammation right shoulder
DL date: August 26
Estimated DL time: Graham has a history of shoulder woes so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Until all the diagnostic tests are done we won’t know the severity of the injury. Therefore, he is out indefinitely.

Curt Casali (C, TAM)
Injury: Strained left hamstring – grade 1
DL date: Aug 25
Estimated DL time: He’s expected back close to his activation date, and unless he suffers a setback he’ll continue to be a power option at catcher.

Johnny Giavotella (2B, LA)
Injury: Personal medical condition
DL date: Aug 21
Estimated DL time: Giavotella has a personal medical condition that has not been revealed by the team or the player. HIPPA regulation allow the team/player not to reveal information when they choose to. According the Angels, they don’t expect it to keep him out of the lineup the rest of the season.

Kendry Flores (RHP, MIA)
Injury: Tendinitis – pitching shoulder
DL date: Aug 22
Estimated DL time: Flores is likely to see the tendinitis in his shoulder clear up fairly quickly. The shoulder weakness he’s developed will take a bit more time on the DL. It is unknown if he will return this season.

Jeremy Affeldt (LHP, SF)
Injury: Left knee subluxation
DL date: Aug 24
Estimated DL time: He suffered a subluxation (dislocation) while playing with his kids during a day off. How long he’ll be out depending how much damage occurred to the ligaments and soft tissue of his left knee. The Giants expect him to return before the end of the season.

J.J. Hardy (SS, BAL)
Injury: Strained left groin – grade 1
DL date: Aug 24
Estimated DL time: He received a PRP injection in the area of the injury, and that is supposed to help accelerate his recovery. He’s expected back September 8-12.

Jason Motte (RHP, CHC)
Injury: Strained right shoulder
DL date: Aug 24
Estimated DL time: It is not known how long he’ll be out but the acquisition of Fernando Rodney is insurance in case Motte is out for the year.

Kendall Graveman (RHP, OAK)
Injury: Strained right oblique
DL date: Aug 24
Estimated DL time: According to reports out of the Bay area, Graveman is not expected to pick up a baseball for up to three weeks. If that ends up being the case, his return date may not be until the very end of September or early in October. In other words, his 2015 season would be over.

Manny Parra (LHP, CIN)
Injury: Biceps tendinitis and soreness in his left shoulder
DL date: Aug 19
Estimated DL time: Because he has two issues with his left arm its highly unlikely he’ll return this season.

Travis Ishikawa (1B, PIT)
Injury: Strained lower back
DL date: Retro to Aug 20
Estimated DL time: Ishikawa should be able to bounce back quickly from this injury. He should return early in September.

Denard Span (OF, WAS)
Injury: Inflammation left hip
DL date: Aug 27
Estimated DL time: Likely out for the year. Span has battled back and abdominal muscle issues all season and now this hip injury. Manager Matt Williams admitted on Thursday that all of the injuries seem to be related. It's clear that Span can not stay healthy right now after returning to the disabled list after playing in just two games.
