Oblique Muscles
First, a little Anatomy 101 to gain a basic understanding of the location of the oblique.
In the first graphic you can see the labeled location of the internal and external oblique muscle.
Intercostal Muscles
Graphic two shows these muscles that are part of the breathing process of inhaling and exhaling air. Which is one of the reasons an injury to these muscles, even a minor one can be so painful.
