The season is getting ready to enter September when rosters expand. That is a difficult time of the year to manage your roster because teams don't typically place players on the DL, and injury information become more difficult to find. This will be the last normal "injury transactions" week of the season. Then, it's a free for all!

It’s a bit early for my annual lessons learned from injuries and recoveries for the 2012 season as the disabling of Johan Santana triggered this column. The purpose of this column is two-fold. One it’s a review for me as an exercise in reviewing the way I evaluate player injuries. I try not to get stuck in a rut saying so-and-so will be out 36 days because that’s what my injury database says. Focus on the player, and then situation and medical information then use the database as a guide. Two, my hope it helps you garner more knowledge with selected injury situations.

As we inch closer to September 1 and roster expansion, teams are still placing players on the DL at a record pace. While there aren't any real big names out this week, at this time of the year, the free agent pool is bone dry and no help can be found unless you make a deal. Here are the DL'd players for this week...

After a quiet couple of weeks, we get major injury to the Red Sox' Will Miidlebrooks, plus CC Sabathia of the Yankees and Mike Napoli of the Rangers. Is this a turning point of season?

Unfortunately it’s starting to be that time of year: any significant injury can be season-ending. Here are four current injuries that might be season-enders.

Nothing frustrates fantasy owners more than having a big power hitter struggling to get through a rehab assignment when you need them in your lineup. Right now, Jose Bautista and David Ortiz are in that situation. Inside, we have the latest on these two players and a bunch of others.

As fantasy owners look to improve their rosters for the stretch run, the last thing they need are injuries. Led by Pablo Sandoval (yes he is on the DL again), some solid pitchers fill out this week's report.

For the second time in two seasons Alex Rodriquez will lose a considerable amount of time to an injury. Also, Ben Sheets is back from the scarp heap. What is the over/under on when he will go back on the DL?

Last week was a quite week for injuries, and is the case almost every year, major league teams play catchup with a bunch of retro moves. While there are not a lot of key injuries outside of Santana and a few others there will be a lot of roster moves this week.

What is the case with Jose Bautista's left wrist? Are the Jays holding out on us? Here is why they might be holding back the whole story.
