Baseball HQ's Bullpen Indicators charts provide all the key indicators you need to accurately analyze each team's pen situation and unearth potential sources of future saves. These are downloadable files that you can use for your own analyses in Excel, Access or similar program.

The potential for saves can be categorized as the quest for three qualities -- Talent, Opportunity and Guile (HQ's Rule of TOG). While the most important variable -- Opportunity -- is the toughest to project, these charts accurately gauge talent and cast some light on guile. The focus is on skills, effectiveness and situational performance. This provides us with some of the tools major league managers might use in making their decisions about who to put on the mound in the 9th inning with the game on the line.
