SAMPLE ORGANIZATION REPORT

FLORIDA Marlins

Organizational Grades: Hitting (C)…..Pitching (B-)…..Top End Talent (C)…..Overall (C+)

1. Cameron Maybin OF…..B/R…..20…..2005 (1) high school (NC) by Detroit

Team (LG) AB AVG OBP SLG HR SB Eye
==============    === === ===  === == == ====
GCL Tigers          7 571 667  571  0  0 1.00
Lakeland (FSL)    296 304 393  486 10 25 0.52
Erie (EL)          20 400 538 1050  4  0 1.00
Detroit (AL)       49 143 208  265  1  5 0.14
Strengths: Athleticism/speed (4.05). Bat speed/power/BA ability. Arm strength. Range
Weaknesses: Long swing. Strike zone judgment
Comments: Prime athlete with power, speed, and defense. Power could be limited due to high G/F ratio, long swing, and propensity to hit off front foot, but makes solid contact. Arm strength and range are sufficient for CF. Missed two months with partially dislocated shoulder.
2008 MLB Role: Starting CF (mid-season)
Potential Rating: 9B

2. Chris Volstad RHP…..21…..2005 (1) high school (FL)

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Jupiter (FSL)      8-9 4.50 126.0 2.5  6.6  293
Carolina (SL)      4-2 3.16  42.2 2.5  5.3  252
MLE                4-2 3.63  42.2 2.3  4.9  272
Strengths: 87-93 MPH two-seam fastball and 75-80 MPH curveball. Arm action. Projectable body. Poise
Weaknesses: Deception of 76-80 MPH change-up. Repeating arm speed/high ¾ slot
Comments: Projectable pitcher with solid pitch movement which is more conducive to groundball outs than strikeouts. Fails to repeat arm speed and high ¾ slot which leaves him with a below average change-up. Stuff is too good to be pitching this much to contact and may just need to be finer with command.
2008 MLB Role: Number five starter
Potential Rating: 8C

3. Matt Dominguez 3B…..R/R…..18…..2007 (1) high school (CA)

Team (LG) AB AVG OBP SLG HR SB Eye
==============     === === === === == == ====
GCL Marlins         20 100 136 100  0  0 0.50
Jamestown (NY-P)    20 200 200 450  1  0 0.00
Strengths: Athleticism/strength. Bat speed/moderate power/BA ability. Plate discipline. Plus arm strength. Soft hands. First-step quickness
Weaknesses: Long swing. Average speed (4.3)
Comments: Strong athletic hitter with the bat speed and plate discipline to hit for both power and BA. May need to shorten his swing, but that’s correctable. An average runner, but is instinctive and aggressive on the bases. Outstanding defensively, with plus arm strength, first-step quickness, and soft hands.
MLB Debut: 2011
Potential Rating: 9E

4. Chris Coghlan 2B…..L/R…..23…..2006 (1-S) Mississippi

Team (LG) AB AVG OBP SLG HR SB Eye
==============     === === === === == == ====
Greensboro (SAL)   305 325 419 534 10 19 1.09
Jupiter (FSL)      130 200 277 331  2  5 0.79
Strengths: Moderate bat speed/moderate power/BA. Strike zone judgment. Baserunning instincts. Average arm strength
Weaknesses: Average speed (4.2). Stiff hands
Comments: Plays above average tools. Makes solid contact with inside-out swing and judges strike zone giving him a high BA/OBP and improved power. Steals bases through instincts as speed is average. Made defensive switch from 3B to 2B where he can be an average defender who makes plays.
MLB Debut: 2009
Potential Rating: 8C

5. Brett Sinkbeil RHP…..23…..2006 (1) Missouri State

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Jupiter (FSL)      6-4 3.42  79.0 3.5  5.6  268
Strengths: 89-94 MPH fastball and 79-81 MPH slider. Command. Repeating ¾ delivery. Strong/projectable frame
Weaknesses: Deception of change-up. Stamina
Comments: Power pitcher missed half of season with separate forearm and back problems, which likely led to his lower strikeout rate. Pounds strike zone with natural cutting fastball and slider. Repeats ¾ delivery which enhances command, but hasn’t done much to improve change-up.
MLB Debut: 2009
Potential Rating: 8C

6. Eulogio de la Cruz RHP.....24.....2001 FA (DR) by Detroit

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============      === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Erie (EL)           4-5 3.41  66.0 3.0  7.8  224
Toledo (IL)         3-0 3.52  38.1 1.4  5.9  289
Detroit (AL)        0-0 6.75   6.2 1.3  6.8  357
MLE                 7-5 4.67 104.1 1.9  6.1  273
Strengths: 91-98 MPH fastball and 77-79 MPH slider. Arm strength. Aggressiveness
Weaknesses: Command. Repeating arm speed. Effort to delivery
Comments: Small/compact pitcher gets movement and velocity through arm strength and quick arm action. Base skills and velocity declined, but was asked to start during first half and was working on repeating ¾ delivery. Fastball and slider are strong pitchers and can survive by being effectively wild.
2008 MLB Role: Short reliever
Potential Rating: 8C

7. Gaby Hernandez RHP…..22…..2004 (3) high school (FL)

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Carolina (SL)     9-11 4.22 153.2 2.0  6.6  245
MLE               9-11 4.99 153.2 1.8  6.1  266
Strengths: 88-93 MPH two-seam fastball and 75-79 MPH curveball. Command. Arm action. Strong frame. Poise
Weaknesses: Deception of 80-83 MPH change-up. Repeating ¾ delivery
Comments: Consistent winner and adapted well to newer mechanics, but base skills declined across the board. Strong frame and arm action gives him durability and ability to hold velocity. Works primarily off of fastball with curveball and change-up interchanged equally.
2008 MLB Role: Number five starter/middle reliever
Potential Rating: 8C

8. Ryan Tucker RHP…..21…..2005 (1-S) high school (CA)

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Jupiter (FSL)      5-7 3.52 138.0 2.3  6.8  262
Strengths: Plus 90-95 MPH four-seam fastball and 70-74 MPH curveball. Command. Arm strength/action. Aggressiveness
Weaknesses: Rotation of 80-84 MPH slider. Deception of 77-81 MPH change-up
Comments: Strong-framed pitcher with quick arm action features plus fastball with late, explosive movement. Curveball is better of two breaking pitches and still needs to repeat delivery for change-up. Command improved, but tends to elevate pitches and does not miss as many bats as stuff would indicate.
MLB Debut: 2009
Potential Rating: 8C

9. Aaron Thompson LHP…..21…..2005 (1-C) high school (TX)

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Jupiter (FSL)      4-6 3.37 115.0 2.4  6.6  266
Strengths: 86-90 MPH two-seam fastball and 77-80 MPH slider. Athletic/projectable build. Arm action. Repeating deceptive, high ¾ delivery. Poise
Weaknesses: Rotation of 69-72 MPH curveball. Deception of 80-82 MPH change-up
Comments: Intelligent and poised pitcher achieves results with a deceptive delivery and being able to throw four pitches for strikes. Command within strike zone improved, and prefers to get groundball outs as he lacks a strikeout pitch and can be hittable. Shoulder tendinitis halted season early.
MLB Debut: 2009
Potential Rating: 7C

10. Dallas Trahern RHP…..22…..2004 (34) high school (OK) by Detroit

Team (LG) W-L ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============      === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Erie (EL)          12-6 3.87 162.2 1.8  5.1  284
Toledo (IL)         1-0 2.84   6.1 0.7  2.8  217
MLE                13-6 4.82 169.0 1.6  4.5  295
Strengths: 88-92 two and four-seam MPH fastballs, 80-83 MPH slider, and 78-81 MPH change-up. Throws strikes. Repeating delivery. Athletic build. Stamina
Weaknesses: Lack of strikeout pitch. Command within strike zone
Comments: Low ERA indicative of extreme groundball tendencies, as command and dominance were well below average. Athletic build allows him to repeat delivery and mixes three pitches well. He does throw strikes, but needs better command within the strike zone and remain comfortable pitching to contact.
2008 MLB Role: Spot starter/middle reliever
Potential Rating: 6B

11. Harvey Garcia RHP…..23…..2000 FA (Venezuela) by Boston

Team (LG) SV ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     === ====  ==== === ==== =====
Carolina (SL)        0 4.07  24.1 1.5  9.3  231
Albuquerque (PCL)    1 6.19  48.0 2.0  8.4  303
Florida (NL)         0 4.38  12.0 1.1 11.0  298
MLE                  1 6.56  72.1 1.5  7.7  304
Strengths: 89-96 MPH fastball and 80-83 MPH slider. Command. Quick arm. Projectable/athletic frame
Weaknesses: Deception of 81-83 MPH change-up. Effort to delivery
Comments: Thin/athletic reliever possesses easy velocity and plus fastball movement from his quick arm action. Command is inconsistent, but misses bats by getting hitters to chase slider, which he added in lieu of his curveball. Throws with effort which makes move to bullpen more suitable to skills.
2008 MLB Role: Short reliever
Potential Rating: 7C

12. Carlos Martinez RHP…..24…..2004 FA (Venezuela)

Team (LG) SV ERA IP CMD K/9 oppBA
==============     ===  ====  ==== === ==== =====
Jupiter (FSL)        0  4.50   2.0  -   4.5  333
Carolina (SL)        0  3.38  21.1 3.6  7.6  247
Albuquerque (PCL)    0  6.75   1.1 2.0 13.5  429
Florida (NL)         0 13.50  22.2 2.0  6.8  333
Strengths: 90-94 MPH four-seam fastball, 88-92 MPH two-seam fastball, and 82-85 MPH slider. Arm action. Athletic frame
Weaknesses: Repeating ¾ slot. Stamina
Comments: Returned from TJS in 2006 to contribute to the big club in September. Possesses extreme movement to fastball and slider, and quickly gained feel for pitches and command. Stamina may always be a concern due to his slight frame and effort to his ¾ delivery, but can be an effective reliever.
2008 MLB Role: Short reliever
Potential Rating: 7C

13. Robert Andino SS…..R/R…..23…..2002 (2) high school (FL)

Team (LG) AB AVG OBP SLG HR SB Eye
==============     === === === === == == ====
Albuquerque (PCL)  598 278 322 428 13 21 0.31
Florida (NL)        13 385 385 462  0  0 0.00
MLE                598 245 287 368 11 17 0.29
Strengths: Athleticism. Contact/BA ability. Arm strength. Soft/quick hands. Range
Weaknesses: Hitting for power. Plate discipline. Average speed (4.3). Lack of strength
Comments: Athletic infielder with strong defensive skills and turned-in his best offensive season to-date. Hitting for BA has never been a problem with solid contact ability, but added muscle produced more power and was able to utilize his speed on the bases. Defense highlighted by arm strength and soft/quick hands.
2008 MLB Role: Reserve SS/2B
Potential Rating: 6A

14. Jai Miller OF…..R/R…..23…..2003 (5) high school (AL)

Team (LG) AB AVG OBP SLG HR SB Eye
==============     === === === === == == ====
Carolina (SL)      406 261 354 438 14 12 0.39
MLE                406 236 320 394 12 10 0.43
Strengths: Athleticism/plus speed (4.05). Moderate bat speed/moderate power. Arm strength. Range
Weaknesses: Contact/BA ability. Strike zone judgment
Comments: Tall/athletic player with plus speed improved approach, taking more walks and getting better pitches to hit. Produces moderate power, but high strikeout rate will keep BA suppressed. Above average arm strength and range make him solid defensively at all three outfield spots.
2008 MLB Role: Reserve outfielder/pinch-runner
Potential Rating: 7D

15. Gaby Sanchez 1B/3B/C…..R/R…..24…..2005 (4) Miami-FL

Team (LG) AB AVG OBP SLG HR SB Eye
==============     === === === === == == ====
Jupiter (FSL)      473 279 369 433  9  6 0.86
Strengths: Strength. Bat speed/moderate power. Strike zone judgment. First-step quickness/range
Weaknesses: Speed. Average arm strength. Stiff hands
Comments: Bat speed and plate discipline have always accounted for solid BA and power, but hits didn’t fall and power regressed. He did drill 40 doubles, but for a corner player, more power will be mandated. Played less catcher and more 1B as his arm strength and stiff hands were too much of a detriment.
MLB Debut: 2009
Potential Rating: 7C
