When is the Baseball Forecaster available each year?
The Forecaster goes to press about the third week of November each year and is typically available from us by the first or second week in December.
Where can I buy the Baseball Forecaster?
The best place to get the book is direct from us as we can get it to you the quickest. It is also available at many online bookstores and select retail outlets. We make a limited number available for retail distribution and they typically end up in Barnes & Nobles and Borders booksellers in larger cities. However, you can always special order the book at virtually any bookstore, though that could take up to three weeks to arrive. Quickest delivery is always to order directly through Shandler Enterprises.
Is the Baseball Forecaster available in electronic form?
PDF versions of the complete book and Excel versions of many key charts are available, but only for customers who buy the book through Shandler Enterprises. Other than that, select sections, such as the Forecaster's Toolbox, Sabermetric Glossary, Major League Equivalencies, Bullpen Indicator charts and projections are available as text and/or Excel files on BaseballHQ.com. Everything else is only available in the book. Most of our subscribers have found that the information in the Forecaster is much more usable in hard copy form as a reference tool.
Does the Baseball Forecaster maintain its value despite its early publication date?
The Forecaster is designed as a reference tool to provide a global perspective about player performance and trends. The projections are but one small part of the package, and most are unaffected by player moves. No hard-copy publication can maintain its timeliness, but the Forecaster's unique perspective does better than most. A free player projections update is available in March for book owners only. The Forecaster's format and measures of player performance, however, make the book a valuable tool for many readers even during the regular season.
How can I access the electronic version of the book?
Access instructions will be e-mailed in January to those who purchased the book from Shandler Enterprises. Those who purchase the book later can request access information by emailing us at bonus@baseballforecaster.com.
If I do not buy the book from Shandler Enterprises, can I still obtain the electronic files?
Yes. The cost for the electronic files and special report is $8.95. Call 1-800-422-7820 to order.
How can I access the free projections update here?
The free update is a one-time file, accessible by Baseball Forecaster book buyers only, that will be available on or about March 1. At that time, the Baseball Forecaster page will list instructions for accessing the file. You will need to have your copy of the Forecaster, as the access codes will be words from pages within the book. These access codes will be changed regularly to minimize abuse.
Is the free projections update the same as the projections offered with a subscription to BaseballHQ.com?
Yes, however the free update is a one-time-only file available on or about March 1. The BaseballHQ.com projections are updated every day. The contents of the file are in the same format.
There seem to be large variances between the dollar values that appear in the book and those that appear on Baseball HQ. Why is that?
The values that appear in the Baseball Forecaster are general estimates calculated without regard to MLB league or fantasy league size. At the time the book is published, it is too early to determine what team each player will end up on, how the pool of stats will shake out in each league or how playing time will be allotted. As such, the values in the book are best used only for player-to-player comparison purposes. The dollar values that appear in the Baseball HQ data files are more precisely generated from a 12-team American League or 13-team National league environment, with the best available information we have at the time of publication. For the most accurate estimates of Rotisserie value, you should use HQ's Custom Draft Guide engine that calculates dollars based on your own league parameters.
I subscribed to a premium version of BaseballForecaster.com in the past. Is that service still available?
No. The premium information that was available at BaseballForecaster.com in the past has been folded back into BaseballHQ.com.
What is your refund policy for the book?
We offer a full refund, minus shipping costs, for books returned to us in resellable condition prior to April for each year's edition.
